Dining Table Top Change

I decided to add some green to my dining room table and used things I already had except I had to buy some small faux green apples.

I never did paint my barstools this weekend, but I will and I think this centerpiece will go well with them.

Maybe it will make it to a June post.  Smile

The Adventures of Izzy: The Toys

My new puppy cracks me up.  We think she has puppy attention deficit disorder.  I just had to share this photo story with you.  It makes me smile.

She gets bored with her toys very quickly.  Today she was digging in her bed where I often gather and place her toys throughout the day.   She pulled out her duck and started chewing.

Not long after she started digging for a new toy.

I told her to get her baby.

She did and then she changed her mind and started digging again.

Her baby is the light pink fuzzy dog.

She decided to get the baby after all.

But soon dropped the baby when she found her duck again.

Bored with the duck once again she dove back in for a new toy.

She came out with a bone and dropped it again for the duck so fast I missed the shot.

And again the duck chewing was short lived and she had to find a new toy.

And she ended up with the small ball on a rope.  I had to end the adventure because I was invited to a BBQ next door.  Food trumps Izzy cuteness.

Can you see why I am not getting many projects done?

Happy Memorial Day with some Red White and Blue Food

I am headed to the fire station to take some exhausted firemen a Memorial Day snack.  The wild fires I talked about here are contained.  Phew.  There were homes lost, but no lives.

The snack I am taking is fresh strawberries and blueberries along with my favorite fruit dip.  It is easy to make.  Mix one block of cream cheese with a small jar of marshmallow cream.  Yum.

More Wild Fires and Change of Mind

It has been reported that the area I live in has had less rain than Death Valley.  I know many are flooding and we are in a drought.  Mother Nature should spread it around a little I think.  My husband was called out on his day off because we have 2 wildfires going again. One is outside of town and the other one is in threatening and burning really nice neighborhoods north of town.  I have 2 coworkers that live in the area.  This is the 2nd time this week they have been evacuated due to wildfires.  This one is more dangerous.  It is larger and has already burned a few homes.

Here are some photos I borrowed from Facebook posted by the newspaper.

Please say a prayer for the homeowners and the emergency crew involved and a prayer that we get rain.  We really really really need it.  50mph winds and no rain make for bad days like this.

On another note.  I have my followers visible again.  I am approaching 1000.  I have already grown tired of my summer mantel

because I missed the reflection and light of my mirror that is usually there.  So I put it back.  I did leave one white starfish.

I know there are many bloggers who love the beachy coastal décor so I thought some of my mantel items (here) would be great for a giveaway.  I have 2 starfish, 3 jars with netting and jute, a sea fan, a sailboat and extra netting.

WHEN I reach 1000 I will do a giveaway post.

I am going to go back to listening to the emergency radio that can be heard at http://www.radioreference.com/apps/audio/?feedId=5098

and keep tabs on what is going on and pray everyone including my husband stays safe.

Summer Sunflowers

When I think of summer, one of the things that comes to mind is Sunflowers.  I picked up a small bunch at my local grocery store yesterday.  I took my favorite little black chair outside and took a few summer photos.

What makes you think of summer?  What summery items will you be adding to your home décor?

Blog Trouble

I can’t sign in with Google to access my blog.  I am using Live Writer to do this post.  I am not sure what the problem is.  I have tried everything suggested.  So frustrated.

UPDATE:

This seems to be the answer.  Thanks to all for your help.

I was having the same problem all day and did all the cookie and cache tricks they were talking about... Then I tried one more time and
UNCHECKED the keep signed in box..... I've been working now for an hour commenting on three days worth of postings. Hope it works for you

ALSO:  How do you recommend moving to WordPress?  I think blogger has too many problems.

Beachy Love Sign

My friend Anita @ Going a Little Coastal has some great photography skills and Florida gives her beautiful landscape opportunities.  When I was doing my version of a beachy mantel I wanted to use some of her photography, but I couldn’t get my initial idea to work.  So I came up with a new idea so using her photo that I printed.

Using the print, I cut out the letters to spell LOVE with my Cricut.  I painted a pine board white and used dark brown paint on the edges for a slight distressed look by dry brushing it on to create this little Beachy Love Sign.  I attached the letters using Mod Podge.

I picked the word “LOVE” because my friend loves the beach so much so I thought it was fitting.

Have you ever found a 2nd use for something that didn’t work out the first time?

Babies, Backyard, BBQ Grill, Barstools, Best Friends and Blogging

Well the baby is actually my puppy, but I feel like she is a newborn baby.  I talked about getting her several days ago here.  I have 3 feedings a day and lots of pottying training.  I am happy to report that I have had Izzy (that is what we decided to name her) since Wednesday night and she has not had any accidents.

I have a few photos to share that are cute.  She seems to really like water.

She loves the grass too.  So much she even eats it.  Along with leaves, sticks, shoes, blankets, rugs, etc.  I am saying “No Izzy!” a lot.

We have been spending so much time in the backyard playing with the dogs that we decided to get another hammock chair swing from Lowe’s.

IMG_0256 copy

It is really fun and relaxing to sit and swing under our big shade tree.

Another thing we got at Lowe’s was a new BBQ grill.  I thought we had a pretty nice grill, but the burners rusted out and it would have cost $150 to replace them so we just bought a new one.  Our old one was really big and we never needed one that big so we got a smaller one and it’s infrared.  Has anyone else tried one like this?

I will have to let you know what I think.  I am the griller in the family so I will try it out soon.

Because I have been spending all of this time with my new puppy and in the backyard, my barstools I started painting 2 weeks ago still look like this.

IMG_0261 copy

Yes that is a partially painted barstool.  I will be getting these done soon and actually having a project to post about.

I painted for one of my best friends last weekend and then spent time shopping with her this weekend.  Sometimes friends need to come before projects.

Which brings me to my final “B” subject of blogging.  I love it, but it felt really nice just enjoying not having a project, deadline or a post to worry about for a few days.  I think taking time off here and there is healthy and needed.

I hope all of you have enjoyed your weekend as much as I enjoyed mine.
