Hurricanes Ruin Vacations Even if it is Indirectly

I don’t have any good photos to share today.  This is why.

It has caused the water to be too choppy for my husband to see any Tarpon on his fishing trip.

If you don’t see them then you can’t catch them.  He paid lots of money for a 6 hour boat ride that made him queasy.  No bueno!

I tried to go to a Goodwill, but I only found drop off locations.  I did eat a good piece of Key Lime pie for the 3rd day in a row.  I am becoming a regular at the Orange Octopus where they sell the pieces of pie.

Then the rain started about 1:30 today and there may be no end in sight.  I so wish I had a photo of my husband holding a big fish or even some sunburned bodies to show you. Grrr.

Florida Day 3

My husband’s sunburn quit hurting so after spraying himself down with spf 70 we headed to the beach.

We are staying in Siesta Key, Florida on Crescent Beach.  The beach is lined with condos and hotels.  It is a short walk from Siesta Key, Beach which is the public beach.  We are staying in a condo on Crescent Beach.  The beaches have the title of   “The world’s finest and whitest sand”.

I hope you aren’t getting tired of all of my photos.  I have enjoyed posting them and thought it would be nice to look back on them and remember the fun we had.

We saw several turtle nests.

I loved the lifeguard stands.  There was yellow, red, green and blue.

This baby eel almost touched my foot and I screamed.  It did touch my husband’s foot.  He didn’t scream.

My son had fun chasing the birds.

I couldn't resist getting a shot of these bright colored buckets filled with sand.

After we got ready and went to dinner.

We came back to try and net some baby fish.

Now we are off to bed.  My husband and son are going Tarpon fishing in the morning and I have the day to myself.  I have seen a ton of Goodwill stores here.  It is amazing how many there are.  I might have to go check some of  them out.    Is it a bargain if you buy it at Goodwill, but have to pay a butt load of money to send it home?

Mote Aquarium and the Beach

My husband slept in while I was brave and took a run on the beach for the first time.  I think I might have to do that again for sure.  My son woke up and we went for a swim in the pool.  When my husband finally crawled out of  bed with his miserable sunburned legs and stomach,  we got ready to leave.  We headed to lunch and then to an aquarium.   Because my husband was too sunburned, we had to do an indoor activity during the heat of the day.  After the aquarium, I quickly checked out a  Home Goods store for the first time because we don’t have one where I live.  I just did a quick tour so I could say been there, done that. We ate in a little dive know for it’s clam chowder and then visited another beach on our island called Turtle Beach.  When we got back to our beach, an evening storm was about to hit so we didn’t stay long.

Here are some photos of our day.

My poor husband’s legs.

This sand feels like walking on flour.  It is so soft.

Back to our beach, but not for long.  See the storm clouds in the sky?

Curly Florida hair.  I am so missing a pony tail right now. IMG_0774

Looking for shells, shark teeth and crabs.

We drove over to Venice last evening to scour their beach known for it’s shark teeth.  I think we will have to go back.  We saw an alligator, found crabs (my son loves finding them) and shark’s teeth.  The alligator was in an intercostal waterway.  There is a really neat pier you can fish from as well.
